We have assembled a “Freshen Up” Kit that is recommended for engines over 150,000 miles. This kit replaces all the major bearings and gaskets and other wear components. As the Vortec / LS engines age, we have noticed that low oil pressure becomes common, particularly at idle. Although often not low enough to be rejected, it is on the lower side of the acceptable level. After processing over 500 engines over the past 10+ years we have noticed that this low oil pressure is often caused primarily by the Cam Bearings. Unfortunately the Cam Bearings are deep inside the engine, often being the very first component installed into a bare block during new engine assembly. We have devised a process and some special tooling that allows us to remove & install new Cam Bearings without removing the heads. This does minimize labor as much as possible but the engine is still significantly disassembled. Note: Essentially no head work, cylinder walls, or rings are replaced as these components typically have a very long lifespan. This kit replaces the following and brings a 150k+ mile engine back up to “par”. This make the engine perform as good as new for easily another 150k miles.
