As many know, and maybe some don't, the Apex uses a Pull type throttle where is Aviation uses a Push throttle. Also the throw of the Apex throttle is only about 1.1in and is quite sensitive. So you need to build a Throttle Reverser & Desensitizer all in one. My Push throttle now has about 2-5/8" throw and has a neutral feel.

My KF4 is pretty small in all aspects and behind the panel is no exception. I looked at several of these others have built and even the one Steve Henry sells but all just looked too big to fit my application. So I set out to condense it as much as possible.

All the aluminum is 1"x.125" from Home Depot. I stopped by the bicycle shop next to Home Depot and for $5 the guy sold me an old bicycle brake that had a "swiveling" cable clamp - this greatly reduces the cable "bowing" when pushed / pulled as the angle is constantly changing. You can get an assorted carb / throttle return spring kit at Oreilly's for about $5 too. You can play with a few different springs and tension until you get the perfect balance. A fiber or plastic washer between the two arms helps reduce friction.

In all I won't lie, I spent longer than I wanted on this as this has a few angles, geometry, tension, cables, machining, etc going on. If you have more room its probably worth buying one but I do only have about $30 in material in it not including the $85 for the throttle cable itself.
